Install on Shopify

One edit to your theme layout covers every storefront page. Checkout is not covered.

Add the tag to your theme

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store, then Themes.
  2. On your current theme, open the actions menu and choose Edit code.
  3. Open layout/theme.liquid and paste the tag just before the closing </head> tag.
  4. Save.

Theme code is replaced when you switch themes. Add the tag again after changing theme.

What is not tracked

Checkout and the order status page run on Shopify’s own pages, where theme code does not load, so they are not tracked. Build funnels that end at the cart instead, for example from a product page to /cart.

Your project domain

Set the project domain to your store’s public domain, such as example.com. Visits on your myshopify.com address are refused unless that is the project domain.

Verify

Open your storefront on its public domain, then open Overview. If nothing arrives, see troubleshooting.
