Retention, export and erasure
Your plan decides how far back your reports go. Everything you see can be exported, and a visitor’s data can be erased.
How long data is kept
Each plan keeps a set amount of history. Reports cover that history and nothing older.

Session recordings are kept for up to 30 days, or less if your plan’s history is shorter.
What you can export
Every report can be downloaded as a CSV file: top pages, the trend over time, devices, browsers, countries and custom events. Each file covers the date range and filters on screen.
- Top pages and custom events files hold up to 1,000 rows.
- Raw events cannot be exported yet. The files hold the same totals the reports show.
- Exports are on every plan, including the free one.
Erasing a visitor
Erasing a visitor deletes their events, sessions, session recordings and page captures, including the stored files, and writes the erasure to your audit log. Report totals are recalculated without them for every day whose events are still stored. Older totals are anonymous counts and stay as they are.
The visitor id changes every half-year, so an erasure covers the id you choose: that person’s visits in one half-year, from one browser and network.

Requests from your visitors
For your visitors’ data you are the controller and we act on your behalf, as set out in the data processing agreement. Visits in WebMetric cannot be linked to a person, so to find someone’s data you need something they can tell you, such as when they visited.
